Covid19 Vaccine Update: AZ for 60+

Thursday, June 17, 2021 - 9:08pm

Today it was announced that people aged under 60 who have not already received their first dose of Covid19 AstraZeneca vaccine should seek a Pfizer vaccine instead.

Here is a link to the Government media release:

Key points:

  • People aged 50-59 who have already received their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine at GFHFP without serious adverse events are encouraged to have the recommended second dose of AstraZeneca vaccine at GHFP. The risk of blood clot following the vaccine is very small, and is even lower following the second dose.
  • People aged 50-59 who have not had their first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine yet should NOT have an AstraZeneca vaccine, but rather seek the Pfizer vaccine from a Government Clinic by calling the Public Health Hotline on 1800 571 738.

GHFP will not be offering the Pfizer vaccine.

AstraZeneca Vaccine Clinics at GHFP:

  • GHFP is having it's final Covid19 AstraZeneca First Dose clinics for people aged 60+ on Saturday 19th June and Saturday 26th June
  • We are attempting to contact people aged under 60 who are booked into one of these clinics and cancelling their appointment.
  • After 26th June GHFP will be providing 2nd doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine for patiens who have had their first dose administered at GHFP.
  • Second dose Clinics are being run on weekdays at 4pm, starting Monday 28th June.
  • Appointments are available to be booked online from this website or from the AMS Connect app.
  • Reminders to book will be sent out 2 weeks prior to the due date (set to 12 weeks after the first dose).

We thank everyone for their understanding through all of the challenges of this vaccine rollout.
