GHFP is now running Covid19 Vaccine Clinics for people aged over 50

We are only administering the AstraZeneca vaccine. The Astrazeneca vaccine is NOT the preferred or recommended covid19 vaccine for people aged under 50 due to the very small but important risk of thrombosis (blood clots) with thrombocytopenia (low platelets). This rare type of blood clot is different from the more common blood clots such as DVT or pulmonary emboli.

GHFP recommends that people aged under 50 wait for access to the Pfizer vaccine, and only have the Astrazeneca vaccine under exceptional circumstances and after a detailed discussion with their GP about the risks v's benefits. The Astrazeneca vaccine appears to be safe and effective for people aged over 50.

How to book for a COVID-19 vaccine at GHFP?

We use the Automed Vaccine Management platform for Covid-19 vaccine reservations and bookings.

Please reserve your vaccine and book your vaccine clinic appoitnments via the AMS Connect App, our website (use the purple Book Appointment button), or by phoning our friendly Reception team on 6169 0000.

COVID-19 Vaccines are FREE!

There are new temporary Medicare item numbers that will be bulk-billed for each Covid-19 vaccine dose administered.

The vaccine is FREE (government-funded), so there will be no out-of-pocket expense for having your COVID-19 vaccines.

What if I don't have a Medicare Card?

People who do not have a Medicare Card can still receive a free COVID-19 vaccine, but not at GHFP. They will need to attend a GP led Respiratory Clinic or a state vaccination clinic.

How will my COVID-19 vaccination be recorded?

Our clinical software automatically reports vaccinations to the AIR (Australian Immunisation Register).

Proof of vaccination will be available through:

  • Medicare Online account
  • Medicare Express Plus app
  • myGov
  • My Health Record

We will also print you a copy of your Immunisation History at your vaccine clinic appointment.
