Telehealth & Telephone Consults (updated 29.3.2020)

Given the current COVID-19 situation in Tasmania, the General Practitioners and Nurse Practitioner at GHFP are providing Phone Consults and Telehealth (video) Consults as an alternative to in-surgery appointment.

On 14th March 2020 new Medicare item numbers were announced which allow us to bulk bill Telephone and Telehealth Consults to our existing patients. Initially these item numbers could only be used for particular groups of patients and practitioners. On 30th March 2020 the items have been expanded for access by all Australians without restriction.

Wherever possible we will continue to provide in-surgery appointments. But if you're unwell, please stay at home and use the phone.

How to book a Telehealth or Phone Consult:

Telehealth and Telephone Consults can be arranged by phoning the practice on 6169 0000. Our Receptionists can arrange the following services via telehealth or phone:

Standard 15 minute Telehealth and Phone Consults can be booked online (from this website or from the Appointuit App).

Telehealth (video) Consults:

Our practitioners prefer to use Telehealth rather than Telephone Consults wherever possible because it's very helpful to be able to see you. Once you've booked your Telehealth Consult a Receptionist will send you a link to the Telehealth Consult (Zoom meeting) via email or SMS. Please join the zoom meeting at the time of your appointment and wait for the practitioner to start the consultation. It’s possible that the practitioner may be running behind time, we appreciate your patience and understanding.

Telephone Consults:

The practitioner will phone you to start the consultation. Please be ready to answer their call. It’s possible that the practitioner may be running behind, we appreciate your patience and understanding.
