e-Scripts

Glebe Hill Family Practice is now e-Prescribing

GHFP has now commenced electronic prescribing (e-Prescribing).

What is an e-Script?

An e-Script is an option that you and your prescriber can choose instead of a paper prescription. When prescribing new or ongoing medications, our General Practitioners will off you the choice of a paper prescription or an e-Script. Paper prescriptions are still available and will continue to be an option.

Electronic prescribing is important because it:

  • provides greater choice for patients
  • makes prescribing and dispensing medicines more efficient
  • may reduce prescribing and dispensing errors
  • supports electronic medication charts in hospitals and residential aged care facilities
  • removes the need for handling and storing a physical paper prescription
  • supports digital health services such as telehealth services to ensure continuity of patient care
  • provides an opportunity to protect community members and health care providers from exposure to infectious diseases (for example, COVID-19)
  • maintains patient privacy and integrity of personal information.

How do I receive an e-Script?

You can choose where your e-Script token is sent. You can receive your e-Script token by SMS or email, or we can print it on paper.

E-Prescribing is an especially useful option when we're consulting by Telehealth as it doesn't require a paper script to be signed by the prescriber, or to be faxed or posted to your pharmacy.

Most pharmacies are accepting e-Scripts

Patients can still choose which pharmacy they attend to fill their prescription. It's important to note that not all pharmacies are e-Script ready. We have contacted most of the pharmacies surrounding GHFP to check that they're ready to receive e-Scripts.

The following pharmacies have confirmed that they're ready to accept e-Scripts:

  • Rokeby Discount Drug Store
  • Amcal Howrah - Shoreline
  • Amcal Howrah - Wentworth
  • Amcal Lauderdale
  • Rhys Jones Pharmacy
  • Goodprice Pharmacy Cambridge
  • Lindisfarne Village ChemMart
  • Chemist Warehouse Lindisfarne
  • Terry White Rosny
  • Bellerive Quay Guardian

Please feel free to ask your prescriber about eScripts at your next appointment.
