HPV Vaccination

Thursday, March 9, 2023 - 10:14am

Did you know that Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines are a safe and reliable way to protect young people of all genders from a range of HPV- related cancers and diseases?

In particular, it is critical to eliminating cervical cancer, while also protecting against other diseases and conditions such as genital warts and other related cancers.

On the 6th of February the recommendations for the HPV vaccine Gardasil 9 changed.

This means now only a single dose is needed for healthy people aged 12 to 25 years to protect themselves from HPV cancers and related conditions.

This change is based on the latest scientific evidence from studies performed around the world.

The government has extended the catch up program to now include a funded vaccine for anyone under the age of 26 years.

To arrange an appointment and obtain your free, government funded vaccine, either book online through our website, or call 61690000 for Glebe Hill Family Practice, or 61690005 for GHFP Nurture.
